When clients (individuals or businesses) determine the best type of packaging container for storage, transporting and protection for their company’s valuable products. There are many factors that need to be reviewed and considered as cost, convenience and safety. Especially when transporting or storing large quantities of products, the weak t stain that is even more important. Often the solution will be used to store barrels or boxes, but there are many disadvantages. Our company would like to offer more appropriate solution is to use Jumbo (FIBCs) bulk bags. Why Jumbo bags?
Seven reasons to use FIBC Bags rather than Drums or Boxes.
Firstly, Drums or barrels do not collapse when empty. Drums take up as much space when shipped to your warehouse and when stored before fill as when they are full. Jumbo bags can fix this disadvantages.
Secondly, the average unit cost of drums or corrugated boxes is significantly higher than the average unit cost of equivalent bulk bags.
Next, boxes and drums must be transported on a pallet, which presents an additional cost and adds 30 to 36 pounds per pallet to the shipping weight of your product. FIBC bags require no pallets and can be carried easily by forklift using the lifting loops.
Then, since boxes and drums weight more and require more space than jumbo bags the per unit packaging and shipping costs are higher once the cost of shipping to your plant is added. Example, an intermodal container that can carry about 200 drums or 2,000 boxes will transport approximately 12,000 bulk bags. Even when folded up, only about 31 boxes can fit on a standard pallet compared to 190 bags, so your per unit shipping cost is significantly reduced with FIBC bags, plus the required storage space is much less.
Next to, when stacked during storage, drums can become unbalanced, turning into rolling safety hazards. And one more time the bulk bags can fix it.
Sixthly, the payload capacity of a box or a drum cannot be customized to carry your product’s volume. The FIBC bags can be producted to hold the exact weight desired.
Lastly, boxes require personnel to assemble them before use. There is virtually no labor time nor cost required to start using bulk bags.
